A COMPANY that is clearly demonstrating that it can add value and achieve success for itself and clients through the Internet is Mobile IQ.

Based at Grove House, Lutyens Close, in Chineham Court, Mobile IQ was set up by its managing director Shaun Barriball in November 2005.

After receiving the award, Shaun was full of praise for his hard-working staff, here in Basingstoke and its office in San Jose in California.

He said: “This award is for everyone at the company and is great recognition for the team’s hard work. Winning this will help motivate them and make them feel their efforts are even more appreciated.”

Having worked in the mobile industry, Shaun spotted an opportunity for a new approach to companies wanting to go mobile.

Mobile IQ helps publishers and content brands seize the many opportunities presented by the mobile internet channel.

With Channel 4 holding a minority stake in the company, Mobile IQ boasts clients such as The Sun, News of the World, New York Post, The Guardian, The Times, The Mirror and The British Medical Journal, as well as the American and British Maxim magazines.

Shaun said: “We specialise in helping any content brands to make money from mobile internet, by taking editorial or video or any kind of content they have and make money from it on mobile devices.

“In the current climate, companies are trying to make money from any diverse ways they can and newspapers and broadcasters are really keen to try new things. The economy is tough, but mobiles are a new and growing opportunity.”

Presenting the award from UK Trade & Investment was international trade adviser Martin Gower-Smith. He said the judges were looking for businesses that could demonstrate they have added value and achieved success for their business or client through e-commerce, web design or electronic marketing.

Martin said: “One of the reasons why we sponsored this award is because most companies start internationally with their websites.”

The other two finalists were Nickleby and Co and Teachable.net.
