Dennis Publishing is launching a paid-for iPhone app for lads’ e-zine Monkey featuring models including Sophie Howard as publishers look to generate revenues from the channel.
The £1.79 app will feature Monkey Cam, allowing users to take a picture with the phone’s camera overlayed with an image of a model.
hey can then post the picture to a social network or send it to Monkey to be considered for publication in the weekly digital magazine.
If it’s successful then a similar app will be launched for Android and BlackBerry devices.
The app, developed by mobile service provider MobileIQ, also features a range of pictures and videos of Monkey models.
Andrew Nicholls, partnerships and mobile manager for Dennis, said it was vital to test the opportunity to earn revenues from new platforms such as the iPhone.
“Monkey has always been a brand which has tried to push the boundaries,” he said. “We’re always looking for opportunities to make revenues and as the first Dennis iPhone app it will be exciting to see what response it gets.”
